I dreamt that I had two exams in university scheduled on the same day, in the evening. One of them was scheduled to start at 8 pm and the other one at 10 pm. The first one was supposed to be a 4 hour exam but due to my accommodations I get 5 hours. The first one ended up being delayed and so we were all sitting in the classroom for more than two hours, so I missed the second exam. I was also worried that I would be so delayed that I would miss the last train home. When we were getting close to starting, I noticed I hadn’t been given a screen, which is another accommodation of mine. During the waiting I got increasingly tired and sleepy and when the exam started I was so exhausted I struggled to sit upright. I had trouble filling in my details on the front page and ended up sleeping in my chair. I slipped in and out of consciousness and when the 1 hour mark approached I noticed that I had filled in my details wrong and I hadn’t completed any of the exam questions. At 1 hour is when we are first allowed to hand in so I managed to correct the wrong details and then handed in a blank exam at 1 hour. I staggered out of the classroom.
Dreams about exams and tests are quite common and can be deeply revealing about your current state of mind and the pressures you may be experiencing in real life. Let's break down the various elements of your dream:
Exams Scheduled on the Same Day: This aspect of your dream may symbolize feelings of being overwhelmed or having too many responsibilities to juggle at once. The fact that the exams were scheduled back-to-back suggests you may be feeling pressure to meet multiple obligations or to succeed in different areas simultaneously.
Delay of the First Exam: The delay could represent a sense of waiting and anxiety about not being able to complete tasks on time. It might indicate frustrations with external factors affecting your ability to achieve your goals, highlighting a sense of lack of control.
Accommodations and Missing Items:
Worries About Missing the Train: Missing the last train home symbolizes fears of missing opportunities or being left behind in some aspect of your life. It might also reflect time-related anxieties and the feeling of being pressed for time.
Feelings of Exhaustion and Sleepiness: Your overwhelming tiredness and difficulty staying awake might suggest emotional fatigue or burnout. This dream element underscores feelings of exhaustion, possibly due to real-life stress or challenges that drain your energy.
Incorrect Details and Blank Exam Submission: Filling in incorrect details and submitting a blank exam could signify fears of inadequacy or failure. It might also represent self-doubt and concern about not meeting expectations, either personal or external.
Staggering out of the Classroom: This could symbolize retreat or withdrawal after a perceived failure or overwhelming experience. It reflects the need to escape or take a break from demanding situations or environments.
Overall, your dream seems to reflect a current feeling of being overwhelmed by responsibilities and pressures, potentially related to academic or professional endeavors. It also highlights a sense of inadequacy or fear of not meeting expectations, compounded by a need for better support and understanding. Consider evaluating your current commitments and seeking additional support or rest as needed to alleviate some of the stressors you're experiencing.
